Bless Richmond Celebration Event - 11.24.2013
November 24, 2013
2101 Maywill Street, Richmond, VA
The Bless Richmond Celebration event is a regional gathering of congregations to give thanks, pray for the city and feed the hungry. It will take place at U-Turn Sports Performance Academy at 2101 Maywill Street, Richmond VA, 23230.
1. What will take place at Bless Richmond? On Sunday, November 24th, Christians from dozens of congregations in Richmond will gather to give thanks to Jesus and pray together. During the night there will be four specific sections of worship and prayer– Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. Through each section, we will be led by pairs of pastors and Christian leaders representing the different congregational, denominational and ethnic backgrounds of our city. There will be moments when we pray individually, and times when we are asked to turn and pray with others. Youʼll hear modern worship songs as well as traditional hymns. The hope is that all would leave inspired to worship together, pray together and impact our city together for the glory of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
CHILDCARE:There will be no childcare at this year's Bless Richmond. However, we encourage families to attend with their children. With the participatory-style service, your children will be able to engage in the worship and prayer times. We believe it will be a beneficial time for the families to pray together and for children to catch the vision of praying for their city.
2. Who is invited? This call is to all the Christian congregations to come together. All Christians and non-churched people are welcomed, but our focus is to increase the congregational care for one another among the congregations of Metropolitan Richmond. Hopefully, one day, each congregationʼs greatest cheerleaders will be the other congregations of this Christian community
3. Where do I park? Ample parking will be available at the U-Turn facility and in adjoining parking lots. A parking diagram and instructions regarding plans for food collection are available on the website.
4. What food items should I bring? The items that are most urgently needed include peanut butter, canned tuna, salmon, chicken, and ham; canned fruits and vegetables; hot and cold cereals; pasta and rice. When you arrive at Bless Richmond, you will be directed by our parking attendants to a drive-through food drop off. They will take your bags of food from the car. Additional collection bins will be placed at the entrance of U-Turn for buses and extra bags. The drop-off area will open one hour before the service begins at 5:00 pm, so come early and get a good seat! Our hope is that by the end of the evening, we will be able to calculate and celebrate the amount of food collected for the Feed More Central Virginia Food Bank that night.
